Silence was a rarity within the League. One Penelope would quickly pulverize, slamming into Melody Miro's office, laptop in hand, and a grimace sharpened across her face.

The question was rhetorical; crafted without the need for a response. She leaned forward, pushing the laptop onto the nearest tabletop.

"Saw some familiar faces this morning. Thought you'd like to see, too."

The monitor screamed in pixels, with HBS' main page pulled up, showing off the latest issue in wide black, bold letter print.

It was one long love letter for the late kyle lopez, written by the same slim ball journalist she used to share a view with. Penelope knew it well - it'd graced her desk only a week ago. She approved it then, of course, knowing it'd her lead here, with a gun in her hand.

She frowns instantly at Penelope. "I see. What do you expect ME to do?" as she puts her arms behind her back, hiding a clenched fist out of sight. [break][break]

"Is this meeting supposed to help me? Councilwoman? Wasting my precious time? It's not like I can control the media. Last time I checked, that was your department." she says as she shifts her weight onto her left leg and releases her clench fist to cross her arms across her chest. Meloetta imitates her trainer's movements to show support and solidarity but it made the entire point of her message seem less aggressive than it was.

If it had been anyone else, she could've easily gotten the article to fly from the screen without batting an eyelash. Long ties meant loyalty beyond the barriers of shifting titles. Whether she was the lead reporter of HBS, or councilwoman Livy, her debts held weight. But Melody didn't get that. Not today, when a better opportunity willingly presented itself.

Meloetta looks at Melody in utter shock, the woman became so hostile? She hadn't seen Melody behave so openly angry in front of people like this before. There was alarm and shock in her face as the Pokémon turns to look at penelope "How about instead of pushing all of the fucking blame on me you fucking handle your boy toy Matias? You KNEW what a threat he was a longGGGG time ago and yet you all do nothing? I envy how much shit they get away with while I'm fucking stuck cleaning up their fucking messes like always."

Her hypnotic stare was working like a charm, Spite, envy, every emotion and worry melody had been feeling was coursing through her yet she just continued to put on a mask to not be seen. [break][break]

But inside she knew Penny was right.

At some point, she truly believed in that sentiment. That maybe, through some sort of unity, backed together by the shared goal of saving this god forsaken region, The League could actually do something about this shitty hand they've been dealt. Whether it be Rocket, or drk trd, or whatever other organization looking to dismantle them, victory would be possible if fought for together.

But then she woke up.

Realized the limits to her framework. Melody Miro was a prime example of it.

It didn't matter what she said, or what they accomplished together, she'll make the same mistakes, and still manage to act surprised.

Her expression doesn't falter. Forever unnerving, like an old grandfather clock ticking away the passing seconds, the passing years, Penelope eyes stare into the pop stare. Closer than ever before.
